Nitiz Murdia: A Junior Embryologist Who Stays Quiet Is a Bigger Risk, Than One Who Flags Uncertainty

”Every growing IVF organization eventually gets good at writing down what should happen. Lab protocols, checklists, escalation paths, all of it eventually gets documented cleanly enough that anyone new can follow it.

What’s much harder to build is a culture where a newer embryologist or counsellor actually feels safe pausing mid-procedure and saying, out loud, ‘I’m not certain about this one.’

I’ve come to think that gap matters more than most IVF training programs account for. A junior embryologist who follows a checklist perfectly but stays quiet about a genuine doubt during embryo assessment is a bigger risk than one who occasionally flags an honest uncertainty immediately. The first looks compliant on paper. The second is actually safer to have in a lab.

The uncomfortable part is that this culture doesn’t scale the way documentation does. You can print a protocol and hand it to a hundred IVF centers. You cannot print psychological safety. It gets built slowly, mostly through how leaders and senior embryologists respond in the specific moment someone admits uncertainty, whether that response feels like support or like judgment.

Across Indira IVF Group centers, this is something we return to constantly, because in a clinical setting, it isn’t a soft skills footnote. It’s close to the center of quality itself in IVF specifically, where a single embryo assessment can matter enormously to one family.

The center that produces the best outcomes over time is rarely the one with the most polished manual. It’s the one where a newer team member trusts that raising a hand costs nothing and staying silent might cost something real.”
