RCOG President Alison Wright Shares New Surgical Skills Training Initiatives

Alison Wright, RCOG President at Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Gynaecology surgical training has changed beyond recognition over the past two to three decades, and our trainees and trainers now carry the weight of that change. We are pushing forward to give them the support, resources and recognition they deserve.

As RCOG President, I am so proud of the work that has gone into the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists | RCOG Surgical Skills Project, and I’m incredibly grateful to the work of our amazing Clinical Fellows, Hannah and Naomi, for their energy and tenacity in driving this forward.

Every bit of the courses and framework in this project were put together from what our O and G membership told us they needed. This reflects the real pressures, the gaps, and the priorities of our members who are providing care on the ground.

It has been so fantastic to see the new ‘Knot to Miss’ surgical skills webinars, and the surgical ‘Train the Trainer’ course, launched this month, as part of the project.

These are critical for widening the access to high-quality training, to raise standards across the specialty, and to support our residents and trainers for years to come.

I encourage all our Members, Fellows and Residents to read this blog, and to hear directly from Hannah and Naomi about what they’ve delivered so far and what’s still to come.”
