Tanya Williams: Secondary Infertility is Real, and It can be Emotionally Complicated…
Tanya Williams, Reproductive Endocrinologist and Medical Doctor at Create Fertility Centre, shared on LinkedIn:
“Secondary infertility is real, and it can be emotionally complicated because many people feel they should simply be grateful or wait longer.
But having conceived before does not guarantee that fertility will be the same later.
Age, ovulation changes, sperm health, endometriosis, fibroids, thyroid concerns, tubal factors, miscarriage history, and changes in overall health can all affect the ability to conceive again.
You deserve care whether you are trying for your first child or hoping to grow your family.
If you have been trying without success, it is reasonable to ask questions, seek assessment and get support.
Secondary infertility is not a failure, and it is not something you have to navigate quietly.”
