“A 40-year-old came in after 4 IVF cycles failed. Four!
His wife had been through the physical and emotional ordeal four times.
The fertility clinic never mentioned varicocele. Never checked. We found it in 10 minutes on ultrasound.
Here’s the problem:
40% of infertile men have varicocele, but some fertility doctors don’t screen for it routinely.
Why?
Because it’s not their specialty.
Gynecologists treat the female side.
Urologists and Interventional Radiologists treat male issues but sometimes aren’t involved during the IVF process.
But when they miss it, couples spend years and hundreds of thousands on IVF when the real problem is venous.
