Vasileios Sarafis: The S.A.F.A.R.I. Protocol – 6 Domains, 1 Structured Plan
Vasileios Sarafis, Consultant Gynaecologist and Fertility Specialist at Sarafis Fertility Clinic, shared on LinkedIn:
“No fertility framework should ask for your trust without showing it’s working.
Over the past two years, I have been developing the S.A.F.A.R.I. Protocol: a structured, 90-day preconception framework for both partners, designed to run alongside appropriate fertility care.
It now has a dedicated home.
The site is intended first and foremost as an educational resource for colleagues and allied professionals who support people trying naturally, preparing for IVF, or regrouping after a cycle that did not work.
The framework brings together six domains:
- sleep and circadian rhythm;
- nutrition and metabolic stability;
- appropriate investigation;
- tiered supplementation;
- reduction of high-yield environmental exposures;
- integration with treatment and daily life.
Most importantly, the science page shows it’s working. Each domain is graded as:
- aligned with current guidelines
- supported by good evidence but ahead of guidelines
- hypothesis-level
It also says plainly what has not been shown. The integrated protocol has not yet been prospectively tested as a whole, and it should never delay time-sensitive treatment.
If you are a clinician, nutritionist, counsellor, coach, acupuncturist, or work with a patient organisation, I hope it provides a useful structure to sit alongside your own work.
I would genuinely value your critical view.”
