Nikhil Patil: Contraceptive Use Among Married Women of Reproductive Age
Nikhil Patil, Field Investigator at ICMR-National Institute of Translational Virology and AIDS Research, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I am pleased to share our recent publication in the International Journal of Advanced Community Medicine: ‘Prevalence and Determinants of Contraceptive Use among Married Women of Reproductive Age in Urban Slum and Urban Areas of Pune, India.’
Key findings:
- Significantly lower contraceptive use in urban slum areas
- Condoms were the most commonly used method in both groups
- Limited awareness of emergency contraception in slum women
- Education, income, and area of residence strongly associated with contraceptive uptake (p < 0.001)
Truly grateful to the authors and field team for their dedication and collaborative effort throughout this study. It was a meaningful and enriching experience working together on this important public health issue.
