“New insights from Japan underscore the profound impact of birth weight on women’s reproductive health throughout their lives.
A comprehensive study tracking over 40,000 women aged 40 to 68 reveals that lower birth weight is linked to later onset of menarche by more than two months and an earlier menopause by approximately seven months, resulting in a shortened reproductive span.
Women with lower birth weights also face higher risks of menstrual irregularities and nulliparity, highlighting the need for personalized healthcare guidance.
These findings emphasize the importance of integrating birth weight considerations into early health assessments and reproductive planning.
This research lays the groundwork for refining genetic counseling, fertility considerations, and long-term women’s health strategies.
