Fatemeh Zarimeidani: Advancing Care for PCOS-Related Infertility
Fatemeh Zarimeidani shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Advancing Care for PCOS‑related Infertility
Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is the most common cause of anovulatory infertility.
Letrozole (LE) has emerged as the first‑line ovulation induction therapy for PCOS, offering higher ovulation and live birth rates with a lower risk of multiple gestations compared to clomiphene citrate.
Our team recently conducted a single‑center, parallel randomized clinical trial comparing two LE regimens in treatment‑resistant PCOS patients:
- 7‑day treatment (Group A)
- 10‑day treatment (Group B)
Primary outcomes ovulation rates and follicle measurements
Secondary outcomes pregnancy rates and safety profiles
Key takeaway:
Both regimens were safe and effective, with no significant difference in ovulation or pregnancy rates, though we observed a trend worth exploring further.
Why it matters:
This is the first study to directly compare 7‑day vs. 10‑day Letrozole protocols. While larger trials are needed to confirm the benefits of extended therapy, these findings can help clinicians refine treatment plans for anovulatory PCOS patients who are resistant to standard protocols.
As this reflects my first experience working on clinical trial articles, I would love to hear your kind thoughts on the methodology and how you think it could be enhanced.”
