Sonia Muliyil Announces the Launch of the First Issue of The Lancet Obstetrics, Gynaecology, and Women’s Health
Sonia Muliyil, Editor in Chief at The Lancet Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Women’s Health, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Very proud to announce the launch of the first issue of The Lancet Obstetrics, Gynaecology, and Women’s Health.
My deepest gratitude goes to the authors and reviewers who share our passion and have placed their trust in me and my team to publish our inaugural issue.
Our Inaugural issue features Articles about pregnancy (CEPRA trial), contraception use after first trimester abortion in a global health setting, adjuvant HPV vaccination for women with precancerous lesions (VACCIN trial), and the use of large language models for women’s health data—a varied selection that is testament to the vast breadth and heterogeneity of the women’s health research that we aim to cover in the journal. Amazing linked commentaries by Marleen Temmerman, Samuel Akombeng Ojong, Kimberly Levinson and others.
A Health Policy and Scoping review showcasing the first ever maternal wellbeing framework from the World Health Organization, a contribution from Allisyn Moran, Justine Le Lez and others. As global maternal mortality falls, merely surviving childbirth is no longer enough. Ensuring women’s broader wellbeing is essential for resilient families and communities. In this context, the Maternal wellbeing framework should prove pivotal in paving the way for policy changes across the globe. Powerful linked Comment by Aduragbemi Banke-Thomas.
Our other articles include Insights on Accelerating women’s health research and innovation by Bola Grace; Bereavement care after stillbirth: need for a global framework by Dominic Edwards; Investing in women’s health: blended finance for cancer care by Mehreen Zaigam et al and A gender-transformative approach towards reducing maternal mortality in Somalia by Abdirahman Moallim Ibrahim et al.
Don’t miss a fantastic Profile of Henriette Svarre Nielsen, Book review of Misty Pratt‘s debut non-fiction book, All in Her Head: How Gender Bias Harms Women’s Mental Health by Hollie Sherwood-Martin and our Podcasts!
My sincerest thanks to the editorial team—Sarah Passey and Ben Burwood—for their hard work in bringing this to fruition. I would also like to extend a special note of thanks to Fi Macnab, David Collingridge, and Richard Horton for their support and encouragement. Many editorial colleagues deserve thanks as well, including Ursula Hofer, Sabine Kleinert, Jessamy Bagena,Helena Wang, Zoë Mullan, Audrey Ceschia, Anna Clark, Pooja Jha, Alastair David Brown, and Beatriz Gómez Pérez-Nievas, for their contributions during brainstorming sessions and general discussions.
The first issue, along with all subsequent issues, is the result of the collective efforts of many talented colleagues working in tandem across our Editorial, Communications, Journal Office, Marketing, Production, and Publishing teams.
Our International Advisory Board will play an integral role in shaping the vision of the journal. Your contributions and suggestions are truly valued!”
