Structured Multidisciplinary Pathways for Endometriosis – Fondation Endométriose

“Reducing diagnostic error: how do endometriosis pathways change the care pathway?
Better management of endometriosis does not only involve expert centres, but above all as a first line of action, an effective and accessible territorial organisation.
In this new episode of the replay of the 2025 Annual Conference, Élodie Lévy, coordinator of the Centre Ouest Filière Endométriose Île-de-France, presents an essential pillar of the national strategy against endometriosis: the territorial sectors.
Their ambition: to reduce delays, simplify pathways and bring care closer to patients’ daily lives.
Why endometriosis channels?
Set up as part of the national strategy announced in January 2022, the sectors meet two major challenges:
- Reducing a diagnostic time, still estimated at between 7 and 10 years
- Offering a clear, coordinated, multidisciplinary and local care pathway
Today, they cover the entire territory and work closely with patient associations.
A structured and graduated organization
In Île-de-France, four territorial courses coordinate the pathways, each led by a medical and administrative team.
The treatment is based on three levels of recourse, adapted to the complexity of the situations:
- 1st recourse: general practitioner or gynaecologist
- 2nd and 3rd Appeal: More Complex Situations
- Targeted referrals according to needs (pain, fertility, ART, etc.)
Not all patients need an expert centre to be well cared for, but a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach is essential for quality follow-up.
Concrete tools for patients and professionals
The courses offer:
- A website and directory of trained professionals
- Multidisciplinary coordination of care
- Free training, CPD, DU and therapeutic education programs
- The aim is to promote earlier diagnosis, limit unnecessary explorations and improve the quality of life of the women concerned in the long term.
