Dale Goss: Multi-Centre Study Shows the Promise of AI-Assisted Rare Sperm Searching!

“I’m very happy to announce that our multi-site SpermSearch.AI clinical study is out in Reproductive BioMedicine Online: ‘Real-time artificial intelligence-assisted rare-sperm searching: a prospective, multi-centre, paired sister-oocyte pilot study.’
Rare sperm searching is slow, tiring work, and it usually happens under time pressure with a patient waiting. That’s not to mention the pressure to ensure eggs are injected within strict time windows while maximising the number of sperm available to choose from. Running a prospective paired study on top of that is not a small ask. I’m extremely proud we were able to show SpermSearch.AI was able to provide tangible benefits to the included patients!
I’d like to extend a special thanks to the incredible embryologists who contributed to this study, specifically Aaron Skinner, Lisa Cummins, Vi Khiem Hua,Daisy Susetio, and others from IVF Australia. You fit this around full clinical workloads while maintaining an extremely high level of clinical care for the consenting patients. The same goes for the wider clinical and scientific teams at IVF Australia, who made space for a study that added work to already long days.
