AI-Powered Oocyte Assessment Enhances Donor Egg Cycle Outcomes – Future Fertility
Future Fertility shared a post on LinkedIn about a paper by Cristina Urda et al. published in Human Reproduction:
“This week we are reviewing an ESHRE 2025 abstract featuring a prospective study led by GeneraLife IVF across three clinics in Spain. The study evaluated the use of our AI-powered oocyte assessment tool in fresh donor egg cycles, exploring its ability to predict blastocyst development and support better management of donor egg programs. This validated model now powers our ROSE oocyte quality assessments for donor eggs.
The research analyzed 1,275 fresh donor oocytes from 145 donors allocated to 171 recipients, with AI scores generated blindly.
Eggs that reached the blastocyst stage had significantly higher AI scores (5.8 vs. 4.9; AUC 0.65).
The number of blastocysts matched the AI-predicted range in 61 percent of cases, with higher-than-expected outcomes in 21 percent.
Among completed cycles, 72 percent resulted in a live birth (AUC 0.70).
Why it matters:
Even in donor egg cycles, where eggs are expected to be high quality, variation still exists.
Our AI-based oocyte scoring system provides a standardized, objective way to assess donor egg quality, helping to optimize distribution and improve donor egg treatment strategies.
