Inside the Career Journey of a Leader in Reproductive Medicine – ASRM
American Society for Reproductive Medicine – ASRM shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Curious how leaders in reproductive medicine got their start?
Our new video series, ASRM Career Closeups, takes you behind the scenes with top professionals in the field – exploring their career journeys, what inspired them, and the advice they have for the next generation.
In this episode of ASRM Career Close-Up, we feature Akanksha Mehta, Professor of Urology and Vice Chair of Education at Emory University School of Medicine, and Director of Male Reproductive Health at Emory Urology. Dr. Mehta shares how she discovered male infertility and microsurgery during residency, a field she didn’t even know existed as a medical student. With the guidance of mentors and close collaboration with reproductive endocrinology colleagues, she went on to build a multidisciplinary program at Emory focused on comprehensive male reproductive care.
Her advice to early-career professionals is clear: build a mentorship team. No single mentor can meet every professional need, and the stronger your network, the stronger you will be.
