Hosting a Genetics and Fertility Educational Dinner for Local GPs – Monash IVF Group

Monash IVF Group shared on LinkedIn:

”As genetics becomes an increasingly important part of reproductive medicine, helping healthcare professionals stay informed is critical to supporting patients in making confident, informed decisions.

Recently, our West Leederville team hosted a Genetics and Fertility Educational Dinner for local GPs and specialists, led by Monash IVF WA Medical Director Dr. Tamara Hunter and Clinical Geneticist Professor Martin Delatycki.

The evening explored the evolving role of reproductive genetic carrier screening, including insights from Mackenzie’s Mission and emerging developments in genetic testing.

Through a panel discussion featuring real clinical case studies, attendees also explored some of the complex decisions that can arise around inherited conditions, recurrent miscarriage, embryo genetic testing and donor screening.

For many people planning a family, their GP is the first healthcare professional they turn to for advice. By bringing together local clinicians and leading experts, we hope to support shared learning, strengthen connections across the healthcare community, and help ensure patients have access to evidence-based information and care when genetic screening or specialist advice may be relevant.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, and to Professor Martin Delatycki for travelling to Perth to contribute to these important conversations with our local healthcare community.”
