Live Birth Rate After ART With Donor Semen in Single Women, Lesbian Couples, and Heterosexual Couples – RBMO
Reproductive BioMedicine Online (RBMO) shared a post on LinkedIn:
“This systematic review and meta-analysis compared live birth rates (LBR) after assisted reproductive technology (ART) with donor semen among single women (SW), lesbian couples (LC) and heterosexual couples (HC).
The authors found a significantly lower LBR in SW than in LC or HC; the latter having similar outcomes. However, LBR was not significantly different between groups anymore after adjustment on female age.
It is the first meta-analysis comparing the outcome of IUI with donor semen according to relationship status, sets the basis for improved counselling of women undergoing IUI with donor semen, and highlights once again that pregnancy chances after IUI are correlated with age.
The authors recommend further studies provide detailed information on female age in order to reinforce the robustness of these findings.
As with all RBMO Review articles this article is free to read, and can be accessed ahead of press from our July issue now.”
