Anushka Dwivedi: Biotechnology Breakthrough in Reproductive Science
Anushka Dwivedi, Student at Mahayogi gorakhnath University, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Biotechnology Breakthrough in Reproductive Science
A team of researchers at Harvard has engineered the first-ever menstruating mouse model, marking a significant milestone in reproductive biotechnology.
Unlike most mammals, mice do not naturally menstruate, which has long limited experimental models for studying human menstrual physiology. By creating a menstruation-capable mouse, scientists now have a powerful in vivo system for exploring:
- Endometrial biology
- Pathophysiology of endometriosis
- Implantation and fertility mechanisms
- Hormonal regulation and therapeutic targets
- Molecular pathways underlying menstrual disorders
This innovation provides a new platform for:
- Preclinical testing of drugs for menstrual and reproductive diseases
- Studying infertility at the cellular and molecular levels
- Advancing women’s health research with greater biological relevance
Such developments highlight how genetic engineering, hormonal modulation, and reproductive biotechnology are transforming our ability to model human physiology with unprecedented precision.”
