New Findings Support the Adoption of Fast Vitrification and Fast Warming Protocols – RBMO

Reproductive BioMedicine Online (RBMO) shared a post on LinkedIn about a paper by Christopher K. Arkfeld et al.:

”New findings add to the growing body of literature supporting the adoption of fast vitrification and fast warming protocols.

This new paper from Christopher Ke Arkfeld, Stylianos Vagios, Evelyn Minis, Victoria Fitz, Victoria Jiang, and Charles Bormann presents data from the first US-based study to analyse and report on the pregnancy outcomes from fast vitrification protocols in the setting of both standard warming and fast warming protocols.

Previous studies have supported fast warming compared with standard warming techniques, noting no impact on pregnancy outcome, and of note, Liebermann et al. (2024) did utilize a fast vitrification protocol of 7 min when comparing single-step warming and standard warming techniques.

More recently, studies have demonstrated comparable reproductive potential following the adoption of both fast vitrification and fast warming protocols; however, the specific impacts of exposure to equilibrium solution and ploidy status warranted further investigation (Turhan et al., 2026).

Arkfeld and colleagues report no significant differences in pregnancy, miscarriage or live birth rates between fast vitrification and standard vitrification, regardless of warming technique or ploidy status.”
