Exploring AI’s Role in IVF Workflow – Future Fertility
Future Fertility shared a post on LinkedIn:
“This week, we’re highlighting a CFAS 2025 abstract exploring how Canadian fertility professionals view the role of AI in IVF care. The study captured perspectives from 23 clinicians and embryologists through 1:1 interviews to understand opportunities, challenges, and priority areas for responsible AI adoption in the IVF workflow.
What did they tell us?
- AI is seen as a promising way to bring more consistency to complex clinical and laboratory decisions.
- Clinicians and embryologists emphasized the importance of scientific validation, usability, and ethical, patient-centred implementation.
- Many identified practical applications — from gamete assessment and cycle management to lab workflow optimization and quality control.
- Many stressed the need for transparent communication and clinician-guided interpretation of AI outputs to support patient care.
Why this matters
- Integrating AI into IVF isn’t just about technology — it’s about aligning tools with real-world clinical workflows, patient expectations, and the professional judgment of those delivering care.
- Understanding frontline perspectives is essential to ensuring AI enhances clinician and embryologist expertise.
What’s next?
- These insights are informing the next phase of our research, where we’ll continue capturing professional perspectives on these topics at scale through a short 10-min survey.
Clinicians and Embryologists in Canada: We’d love to hear from you!
- For every eligible completed survey, Future Fertility will donate $30 to Fertility Friends Foundation, helping expand access to fertility treatment.
