Jia Vaswani: How Microbiome Science is Unlocking the Cure for PCOS
Jia Vaswani, Writer at Medium, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Here to share something deeply personal and exciting, my article has officially been published on Medium!
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been curious about the why behind women’s health challenges — especially PCOS, a condition that affects nearly 1 in 10 women worldwide. I wrote this article as a journey to understand my own body, how our gut and hormones are in constant dialogue, and how this holds the key to more effective, natural treatments.
In my article, I explore how gut microbes regulate estrogen, insulin, and inflammation, the same systems disrupted in PCOS, and how scientists are using AI, microbiome mapping, and synthetic biology to design next-generation probiotics and hormone-responsive therapies.
What I found most fascinating is that this field represents a movement, one where women’s health is finally being studied with depth, data, and empathy.
I also dive into why this research is especially relevant to the GCC, where PCOS rates are nearly double the global average, and how our region could become a hub for femtech innovation grounded in science and culture.
You can read the full article here.”
