Kate Staatsen: Excited to Share My New Publication on Chronic Histiocytic Intervillositis in AJOG
Kate Staatsen, Fourth Year Honours Biology and Psychology Student at Queen’s University, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I’m excited to share a publication I had the opportunity to contribute to in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
This paper marks a meaningful milestone for me, as it’s the first time I’ve been included as an author on a peer-reviewed publication.
Chronic histiocytic intervillositis (CHI) is a rare but serious placental condition associated with severe fetal growth restriction, preterm birth, and stillbirth. In this study, we explored whether early second-trimester placental growth factor (PlGF) and uterine artery Doppler assessments could help predict outcomes in pregnancies complicated by CHI. Our findings suggest that low maternal PlGF may serve as a useful early biomarker.
I’m grateful to have supported this work through extensive data collection and chart review over the summer. It was an invaluable introduction to clinical research and an important step forward in my growing interest in women’s health.
Thank you to the team who led and mentored me throughout this project.
You can read the paper here.”
