Matteo Molè: Collaborative Innovations in Embryo Implantation Research
Matteo Molè, Assistant Professor of Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine, shared a post on LinkedIn about papers published in Cell:
“Opening the ‘Black Box’ of Human Implantation.
We are proud to share our latest research, published in Cell: ‘Modeling human embryo implantation in vitro’
For decades, the moment a human embryo attaches to the uterus has remained a ‘black box’ biologically critical but impossible to observe. By creating CREST (Cell-engineered Receptive Endometrial Scaffold Technology), we have successfully achieved human embryo implantation in vitro.
- The Time is Now: We have moved beyond observing embryos in a dish; we can now study the complex interface between the embryo and the mother.
- Improving IVF: Implantation failure is the primary barrier to pregnancy. By recapitulating this process, we hope to understand why it fails and significantly increase success rates for patients.
- Global Collaboration: This was a massive joint effort between The Babraham Institute, IVIRMA Global, and Stanford University.
We are also excited to be part of a landmark trio of papers moving this field forward today. Please see the related work by our colleagues.”
