Nutrition and IVF Outcomes Require a Personalized Approach – RBMO

Reproductive BioMedicine Online (RBMO) shared a post on LinkedIn about a paper by Gemma Fabozzi et al. published in RBMO:

“Over recent years, nutrition has been increasingly recognized as a modifiable factor influencing fertility and the outcomes of assisted reproductive technology, and this new comprehensive review from Gemma Fabozzi and colleagues across Italy provides the first synthesis of evidence on diet and ART outcomes, integrating data on dietary-patterns, nutrients, and exclusion diets in both sexes.

Their findings show that no single dietary approach is proven to enhance IVF success, nor is any macronutrient exclusion supported.

The authors recommend that personalized dietary strategies would better address gut dysbiosis and metabolic disturbances, thereby improving ART outcomes and supporting long-term reproductive health, and future research should prioritize individualized strategies that account for the dynamic interplay between diet, epigenetics and microbiota; a triad that plays a critical role in maintaining metabolic homeostasis competence through intricate endocrine, immune, and metabolic networks.

As with all RBMO Review articles this article is free to read, and can be accessed ahead of press from issue 53.1, now.”
