Ovarian Reserve’s Impact on Miscarriage Risk – RBMO
Reproductive BioMedicine Online (RBMO) shared a post on LinkedIn:
“This systematic review and meta-analysis into ovarian reserve and miscarriage suggests that the risk of miscarriage is significantly higher in women who underwent ART with a low AMH concentration compared to those with medium and high concentrations across all age groups.
A sub-group analysis showed the risk change remains significant amongst women under 35 years old, but likely not significant amongst women older than 35 years.
The authors, Lorraine Kasaven, Nicholas Anson, Benjamin Jones, Rabi Ahmed-Odia, Javier Cordero Ruiz, Jara Ben Nagi, and Efstathios Theodorou, note that in women older than 35 it is important to consider other risk factors of miscarriage, such as aneuploidy, quality of the endometrium and factors affecting implantation, as well as previous history of miscarriage, and call for further studies to provide clinical recommendations to support patient counseling in the preconception period.
