In Clinical Embryology, every liquid medium has a Specific Role and a distinct Biochemical Composition.

Routine Culture Medium and EmbryoGlue cannot be used interchangeably – each serves a completely different phase of embryo development and the implantation cascade.

Technical Comparison Matrix

Primary Objective:

Culture Medium: To support embryo cleavage, provide metabolic substrate, enable cellular division, and drive blastocyst development (Day 0 to Day 5/6).

EmbryoGlue: To facilitate endometrial adhesion, improve cellular anchoring, and accelerate the implantation cascade (Pre-transfer exposure to the transfer stage).

Biochemical Composition:

Culture Medium: Balanced salts, amino acids, pyruvate, lactate, glucose, and low/moderate albumin (BSA/HSA) concentration.

EmbryoGlue: Recombinant Human Serum Albumin (HSA) blended with High Concentration Hyaluronan (HA).

Viscosity and Physical Properties:

Culture Medium: Low viscosity – ideal for micro-manipulation and gentle handling of oocytes, sperm, and blastomeres.

EmbryoGlue: High viscosity – closely mimics physiological uterine fluid properties to prevent transfer volume drift within the uterine cavity.
