Fertility Preservation Insights for Women with Endometriosis – RBMO
Reproductive BioMedicine Online (RBMO) shared a post on LinkedIn a paper by Rebecca Goldstein et al. published in RBMO:
“A new study from a research team in France, led by Rebecca Goldstein, assesses fertility for women with endometriosis who have undergone fertility preservation (FP), with the aim of improving the information provided to patients during the first FP consultation.
Despite the known detrimental effects of endometriosis on fertility, a majority of women who attempted to conceive following FP achieved pregnancy, with a substantial proportion conceiving spontaneously. Half of these women used their cryopreserved material, supporting the relevance of FP as part of comprehensive reproductive counselling in endometriosis care.
The authors say their results contribute evidence to better inform advice for women on the usefulness of FP in the context of endometriosis, the efficacy, and the safety as well as the significant proportion of patients with spontaneous pregnancy despite endometriosis; and their findings also underscore the importance of collaboration between fertility specialists and surgeons in the overall management of patients with endometriosis.
RBMO subscribers can read the full paper from our February issue, now.”
