Hesam Ghafouri Kalajahi: Functional Heterogeneity of Endometriomas in FSH Responsiveness
Hesam Ghafouri Kalajahi, Ph.D. candidate in Cellular and Molecular Medicine|Researcher at Koc University Research Center for Translational Medicine, shared a post on LinkedIn about a paper published in Molecular Human Reproduction:
“I’m excited to share that our new paper, ‘Endometriomas are heterogeneous for functional FSH receptor expression and steroidogenic function,’ has been published as part of my PhD research in Cellular and Molecular Medicine.
In this study, we investigated whether endometriomas uniformly express functional FSH receptors and possess the complete steroidogenic machinery required for autonomous estrogen production. Using ex vivo explant cultures combined with qRT-PCR, immunoblotting, immunohistochemistry, and hormone assays, we demonstrate a clear functional heterogeneity among endometriomas in terms of FSH responsiveness, aromatase regulation, and steroidogenic capacity.
I’m deeply grateful to my supervisor, Prof. Dr. Ozgur Oktem, and my co-authors, specially Dr. Can Benlioglu, Dr. Yashar Esmaeilian and Dr. Sevgi Yusufoglu for their invaluable support throughout this work.
Looking forward to further exploring the molecular mechanisms underlying ovarian pathophysiology and fertility.”
