“Breaking News: Women’s voices are set to be at the heart of the renewed Women’s Health Strategy, published on 15 April 2026. This new strategy aims to ensure women are better heard and served across the healthcare system.
Key reforms include:
- Emphasising the link between women’s feedback and provider funding to enhance accountability.
- Streamlined gynaecological care to cut waiting lists for conditions like endometriosis and fibroids.
- Tackling outdated practices around pain relief and ensuring effective pain management for invasive procedures.
This renewed strategy is a significant step towards stamping out issues where women’s health concerns are often ignored. It includes a single referral point to ensure women are directed to the right professional first time, reducing the years-long wait for diagnosis.
Health and Social Care Secretary Wes Streeting points out the need to address medical misogyny and redesign clinical pathways. There’s also a focus on providing better access to contraceptive and abortion care, with continued support for protected spaces.
The renewed Women’s Health Strategy promises substantial progress in women’s health and well-being, drawing on the voices and experiences of women to drive effective improvements.
