Sherif Abdel-Fattah: Global Pre-Eclampsia Priorities Discussed at WHO Summit in Rwanda
Sherif Abdel-Fattah, Vice President of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) for Global Health, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Very honoured to be invited to participate in the WHO’s Global Pre-Eclampsia Summit in Rwanda, representing the RCOG. This was an event involving a variety of stakeholders aiming to identify priorities to improve early prediction, diagnosis, detection and management of this condition that has devastating effects on maternal and neonatal health, everywhere, but more profoundly in low- and middle-income countries.
Participants included clinicians, researchers, academics, professional organisations, NGOs, funders, governments’ representative and others, and the focus was on research priorities, standards, guidelines, and more importantly on implementation strategies, advocacy, accountability and commitments.
During my long career I attended countless numbers of medical conferences and participated in large numbers of courses, meetings and other scientific activities – this was a new experience and an eye opener to a different type of activity identifying and implementing strategies.
Thank you WHO for the invitation.”
