New FIGO Guidance on Preventing Post-Caesarean Sepsis – FIGO
FIGO shared a post on LinkedIn:
“New FIGO guidance on preventing post-caesarean sepsis.
Post-caesarean sepsis is a leading cause of maternal mortality, with infection rates as high as 20% globally.
The new review in the International Journal of Gynecology and Obstetrics, provides evidence-based strategies to prevent these infections – including antibiotics 30–60 mins before surgery, vaginal & skin antiseptic prep, safe surgical practices, like glove changes after placental delivery and early recognition and rapid treatment to save lives.
With 75,000 maternal deaths annually linked to sepsis, implementing these practices is critical.
Read the full review and help improve maternal outcomes worldwide.”
