Jakub Dejewski: Looking Back at The Fertility Show at Olympia London
Jakub Dejewski, Chair at The European Fertility Society, CEO at IVF Media Ltd., shared a post on LinkedIn:
”Looking back at the Fertility Show, 16–17 May, at Olympia London. Two days of expert talks, panel discussions, Q&A sessions and conversations with clinics, specialists and organisations supporting fertility patients. With more than 70 exhibitors and a strong live programme, this year’s event felt bigger, more comprehensive and more needed than ever.
What stayed with me most was the balance between hope and reality.
On one hand, it was genuinely uplifting to see so much information, support and expertise available to people trying to build their families. Topics such as endometriosis, PCOS, age-related fertility, implantation, genetic testing and treatment pathways were discussed with knowledge, empathy and care.
On the other hand, it is deeply sad that so many men and women need fertility treatment today – and that for many, access is still shaped by waiting times, cost and location.
Infertility is often called a hidden epidemic, and for good reason. Behind every statistic are real people, relationships, difficult decisions and years of emotional and financial pressure.
In the UK, many patients face long waiting times before even reaching an initial consultation. Some then turn to private consultations, testing and treatment, where the costs can quickly become overwhelming and often go far beyond a normal household budget.
This is where cross-border reproductive care becomes so important.
For some patients, travelling abroad for fertility treatment is not about preference. It is about access: shorter waiting times, more affordable diagnostics and treatment, and the possibility to consult experienced fertility specialists.
This is why events like the Fertility Show matter. They offer education, support and guidance at a time when patients often feel overwhelmed and alone.
It also confirms why the work of IVF Media Ltd. and The European Fertility Society (EFS) matters.
Our goal is simple: to help prospective parents feel better informed, better supported and more confident when making one of the most important decisions of their lives.
Because for many people, crossborder reproductive care is not just an option. It may be their path to parenthood.”
