Tom Holland: Advancing Robotic Surgery Skills at the T400 Course in Strasbourg
Tom Holland, Gynaecologist, robotic and advanced laparoscopic surgeon, endometriosis researcher at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“The plastic disposable scrubs look like we’ve just escaped from a mental asylum. Maybe we have….
In fact it was the T400 advanced robotics course in Strasbourg with the ever excellent Shaheen Khazali. I’ve never been to IRCAD before and was very impressed by how organised and efficient the whole day was. Special thanks to Ross Angella for organising and Intuitive for hosting the day.
We put on Hem-o-Lok clips which I have seen Ben Challacombe do but never had the opportunity to do myself. We also got to learn advanced dissection techniques, management of complications, ureteric re-implantation, suturing of small and large bowel injury and advanced rectal shaving. These will all be very useful for complex endometriosis surgery going forwards.
Jonathan Hedges got to show off his considerable robotic skills and talent with a decent amount of console time. A great travel companion again.”
