Julius Kwabena Karikari: Excited to Share Our Publication in IJGO on the Determinants of Obstructed Labor
Julius Kwabena Karikari, Head of Medical Records/Health Information Unit at University Health Services, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Excited to share our latest publication in the International Journal of Gynecology and Obstetrics on the determinants of obstructed labor among pregnant women in Mogadishu, Somalia.
Our study found that diabetes in pregnancy, prolonged labor, inadequate antenatal care, referral delays, maternal overweight, higher birth weight, and a previous history of obstructed labor were key risk factors. Cephalopelvic disproportion was identified as the leading cause.
These findings underscore the importance of strengthening antenatal care, referral systems, and intrapartum monitoring to improve maternal and neonatal outcomes.
Title: Determinants of obstructed labor among pregnant women in Mogadishu, Somalia: A case–control study
