Reinstate the Designated Post for the Women’s Health Minister – RCOG
Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists | RCOG shared a post by British Pregnancy Advisory Service (BPAS) on LinkedIn:
“We’ve joined over 35 other medical and women’s health organisations in calling for the Scottish Government to reinstate the designated post for the Women’s Health Minister.
Scotland paved the way with its Women’s Health Plan, which was the first of its kind to be published in the UK but removing the Women’s Health Minister role now sends the wrong signal.
Dr Alison Wright, president of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, said: ‘Women in Scotland experience poorer health outcomes than men for a range of major conditions. We need accountability at every level to close this gap and deliver better for women.’ ”
Quoting British Pregnancy Advisory Service (BPAS)’s post:
“Women’s health cannot be an afterthought.
Lucy, Policy and Engagement Manager at BPAS, explains why dedicated leadership is essential to tackling inequalities across healthcare – including ensuring women can access timely abortion care, gynaecology services, and the support they need, when they need it – and why BPAS has led a coalition calling for there instatement of a dedicated Minister for Women’s Health in Scotland.”
