Stephanie Rist: Women’s Health Is More Than Maternity, It’s About Full Participation in Society
Stephanie Rist, Minister of Health of France, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Parliamentary Summit of La Francophonie on the Health of Young Girls and Women.
On Friday, at the National Assembly, I had the honour of concluding an essential meeting devoted to a subject that has remained on the sidelines for too long: women’s health.
With Prisca Thevenot we share the conviction that there can be no equality between women and men without equality in health.
Because women’s health is not just about maternity or gynaecology.
It is everything that has to do with their body, their autonomy, their social and professional life.
It is also the recognition of pathologies that are still underdiagnosed or poorly managed, from cardiovascular diseases to anxiety disorders.
Finally, women’s health is an economic and social issue: healthy women participate fully in collective life, innovation, growth and social justice.
France is taking action, with an assumed feminist diplomacy, which places sexual and reproductive health and rights at the heart of its international commitment.
And the results are there: when international cooperation is built around a feminist vision, progress is visible, sustainable and concrete.
Healthy women mean stronger, freer and fairer societies.
It is this ambition that France holds high, in all areas of dialogue and action.
Thank you to Prisca Thevenot for his invitation and for his constant commitment.
Thank you to the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie for this mobilization in favor of the health of young girls and women.”
