Brothaigh Russell։ Proud to Launch the Childless Not By Choice Community at Lloyds Banking Group
Brothaigh Russell, Review Manager of Economic Crime Prevention at Lloyds Banking Group, shared on LinkedIn։
“Not every fertility journey results in parenthood. Yet workplace conversations about fertility often end there.
One of the biggest things I’ve learned through leading Lloyds Banking Group’s Fertility and Baby Loss Community with Louise Burford is that every time you start a conversation, you discover another one that isn’t happening.
Over the last year, we’ve been trying to broaden that conversation. From exploring the emotional impact of ending fertility treatment with Fertility Matters at Work to hearing from Katy Schnitzler on the latest research on Childless Not By Choice employees, we’ve listened to experiences that aren’t always visible in the workplace.
Those conversations created a ripple effect of their own, prompting us to think differently about who might still be missing from the support and discussion already in place.
That’s why we’re proud to have launched a dedicated Childless Not By Choice Community at Lloyds Banking Group.
For me, inclusion isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about listening, recognising who’s missing from the conversation, and having the confidence to evolve.
And the conversation doesn’t stop here: on 2 November, we’re bringing together colleagues from across the banking industry for a roundtable focused on Childless Not By Choice and how employers can better recognise, support and include those whose path to parenthood hasn’t gone as hoped.
If you’re involved in colleague networks, DEandI, wellbeing or people policy within a bank and would like to be part of the discussion, I’d love to hear from you.
Thank you to everyone who has shared their experiences, helped shape this community, and to Fiona Roche and organisations such as Fertility Matters at Work who continue to challenge us to think more broadly about fertility inclusion.”
