Lydia Wehrli: Microplastics and Reproductive Health, A Growing Concern
Lydia Wehrli, Postdoctoral Researcher in Reproductive Toxicology at Karolinska Institutet, shared a post on LinkedIn about a paper published in Journal of Internal Medicine:
“Publication Alert!
I’m excited to share our recent Symposium Review entitled ‘Reproductive toxicity of micro- and nanoplastics: Insights from experimental and human studies,’ now published in the JIM – Journal of Internal Medicine.
This review brings together key findings from the past decades, comparing evidence from animal models and epidemiological studies. Our work highlights the alarming presence of micro- and nanoplastics (MNPs) in reproductive organs and fluids, underscoring their potential threat to reproductive health.
As global plastic production continues to rise alongside increasing infertility rates, urgent measures are needed to address this growing concern.
A huge thank you to Pauliina Damdimopoulou, Olwenn M. and Leonardo Trasande for such a rewarding collaboration!”
