Svitlana Yashchenok։ Fast Decisions Are Often Made Out of Fear, Not Out of Clarity
Svitlana Yashchenok, Practice Manager at Reproductive Health Medical Centre LADA, shared on LinkedIn:
“I used to ask ‘how fast can I decide?’ Now I ask something completely different. Speed seemed like the only right strategy at the start of the journey.
The market punishes the slow; that’s what I thought, and honestly, that’s true in many ways. Move fast, decide fast, grow fast, while competitors are still thinking. This instinct worked: it delivered results, opened doors, created the feeling that you’re always one step ahead.
This year I noticed a pattern: fast decisions are often made out of fear, not out of clarity. Fear of standing still, fear that someone will get ahead, fear that a pause will look like weakness. Speed by itself is not a strategy. It’s anxiety that knows how to do one thing: make bad decisions urgent, forcing you to act before you think.
What did I start doing differently?
The real work this year was far harder than simply ‘slowing down.’ I had to learn all over again how to maintain clarity of mind in moments when everything inside demands an immediate reaction. Not seizing an opportunity just because it appeared first and looks appealing here and now.
A question emerged that I ask myself before every significant decision now: am I acting because it’s right, or because I’m afraid to stop and look at the situation honestly?
I want what I’m building today to last for years to come, not just win a single good quarter at the cost of what was built over decades. Speed doesn’t guarantee that outcome – it can even destroy it if applied without thought.
But clarity of mind, that very pause before action, truly gives a chance to build something that will outlast more than one hype cycle and more than one market pressure.”
