Devyanshi Dixit: Can We Predict Who Will Have Severe Menopause Symptoms?

Devyanshi Dixit, Program Manager at CLS Event and Publication and Conference Manager at the 12th Global Summit on Gynecology, shared on LinkedIn:

“Can We Predict Who Will Have Severe Menopause Symptoms?

Why does menopause feel manageable for some women but completely disruptive for others?

Severe hot flashes, sleepless nights, brain fog, mood changes, and vaginal and sexual symptoms can significantly affect quality of life.

The difference may not be ‘just hormones.’

Researchers are exploring how genetics, estrogen pathways, brain thermoregulation, sleep, stress, metabolic health, and the timing of perimenopause may influence symptom severity.

And the bigger question is: Could we identify women at higher risk before symptoms become severe?

Today, there is no single test that can accurately predict an individual woman’s menopause symptom burden.

But the future may move from reacting to symptoms to predicting risk and personalizing care.

Because menopause is universal, but the experience of menopause is not.

The goal is not to treat every woman the same, but to understand why every woman experiences menopause differently.

At the 12th Global Summit on Gynecology, Fertility and Women’s Health (GFWH 2026), experts will explore emerging developments across menopause, gynecology, reproductive medicine, and precision women’s healthcare.

The next question for menopause medicine may not be, ‘How do we treat symptoms?’

It may be: ‘Can we predict them before they become severe?'”
