“Why Do Fibroids Return After Treatment?
- The fibroid is removed.
- The symptoms improve.
- Life starts moving forward.
Then, years later – another fibroid appears.
But why?
- Fibroids are not simply isolated growths that can be ‘removed and forgotten.’ Their development is influenced by hormonal signaling, genetics, and the biology of the uterine tissue.
- Even after treatment, the underlying environment that allowed fibroids to develop may remain.
And there is another possibility:
Was the new growth actually a recurrence – or a completely new fibroid?
Understanding this distinction could change how we monitor, prevent, and manage fibroid disease.
At GFWH 2026, the evolving science of fibroid biology, recurrence, minimally invasive treatment, and precision gynecology will be given a global stage.
