“Why Do Fibroids Return After Treatment?

  1. The fibroid is removed.
  2. The symptoms improve.
  3. Life starts moving forward.

Then, years later – another fibroid appears.

But why?

  • Fibroids are not simply isolated growths that can be ‘removed and forgotten.’ Their development is influenced by hormonal signaling, genetics, and the biology of the uterine tissue.
  • Even after treatment, the underlying environment that allowed fibroids to develop may remain.

And there is another possibility:

Was the new growth actually a recurrence – or a completely new fibroid?

Understanding this distinction could change how we monitor, prevent, and manage fibroid disease.
