Fertility Deserves to Be Part of the Conversation When Diagnosing Gynecologic Cancer – IGCS
International Gynecologic Cancer Society (IGCS) shared on LinkedIn:
“Fertility deserves to be part of the conversation.
A gynecologic cancer diagnosis can affect more than treatment – it can affect plans for the future.
Some cancers and treatments can impact the ovaries, uterus, and reproductive capacity, but fertility-preservation options may be possible for some people, particularly when the conversation happens early.
That’s why questions about fertility and reproductive wishes should be part of individualized care from the time of diagnosis.
Age, cancer type, stage, and treatment all matter – and every person’s situation is different.
This graphic from EVA’s September in Bloom campaign highlights fertility, treatment considerations, preservation options and the importance of information and support when planning for the future.
A cancer diagnosis can change plans. It shouldn’t take away the opportunity to ask about them.”
