Lucy Froese: Accepting That IVF Could Be My Path to Becoming a Mum Felt Enormous…
Lucy Froese, Fertility and IVF Coach, shared on LinkedIn:
“Nobody in that meeting knew I’d taken another pregnancy test that morning.
Or that it was negative.
Again.
They didn’t know that another little piece of my heart had broken before I’d even opened my laptop.
I still joined the meeting.
I smiled.
I contributed.
I answered questions and made decisions as though my mind wasn’t somewhere else entirely.
Because that’s what capable women do, isn’t it?
We carry on.
We separate what’s happening inside us from what everyone else needs to see.
Then, when nobody is looking, we search for answers.
We analyse symptoms.
We calculate dates.
We promise ourselves we won’t test early next month.
And we wonder how many more times we can let ourselves hope, only to watch that hope disappear again.
I did this for 36 months.
Part of me knew I might need help, but accepting that IVF could be my path to becoming a mum felt enormous.
I was frightened of treatment.
Frightened it wouldn’t work, and how I would cope.
And perhaps most of all, frightened that choosing IVF meant admitting I couldn’t make this happen by myself.
It didn’t.
Accepting help wasn’t giving up.
It was allowing myself to consider another way forward.
I’m not saying IVF is the right next step for everyone. That is a personal and medical decision.
But if fear is keeping you stuck, whether that’s fear of seeking answers, starting treatment or admitting how much you’re struggling, you don’t have to keep carrying it alone.
How many more months do you want to sit in meetings pretending you’re fine when another negative test has broken your heart?
If you’re ready to talk about what’s really going on and explore what moving forward could look like for you, book a free consultation with me.
It’s a private space to feel heard, understand what’s affecting you most and get clear on the support that could help you move forward.
P.S. My first IVF cycle worked. The baby I had spent 36 months longing for is now my 11-year-old daughter.”
