Svitlana Yashchenok: Would You Introduce Non-Invasive PGT-A into Your Fertility Clinic Today?

Svitlana Yashchenok, Practice Manager at Reproductive Health Medical Centre LADA, shared on LinkedIn:

“We’re considering adding niPGT-A (non-invasive PGT-A) to our clinic. Before we do, I’d like your honest opinion.

For 18 years we’ve worked toward one goal: a healthy pregnancy. Not just a positive test. A heartbeat confirmed at 12 weeks, and a healthy baby after that. That’s the result that matters to our patients.

So we’re taking a close look at a new option: niPGT-A.

It checks an embryo’s chromosomes without a biopsy. Instead, we analyse the DNA the embryo releases into its culture medium, so the embryo stays untouched.

In theory, it sounds great: fewer risks for the embryo, better selection, maybe fewer losses.

But I’ve read the data, and it’s not black and white:

  • Classic PGT-A helps mostly women over 35. For younger patients the benefit hasn’t been clearly shown.
  • niPGT-A matches biopsy results in roughly 60–86% of cases depending on the study.
  • Large trials on live birth outcomes are still ongoing.

I don’t want to bring something into the clinic just because it sounds modern. I want to know whether it truly raises the chance of a healthy pregnancy.

So I’m asking you: embryologists, REIs, geneticists, clinic owners.

Would you introduce niPGT-A today? For which patients? And what would convince you it’s ready?

Tell me where I’m wrong. I’d rather hear it now.”
