Oluyemisi Famuyiwa: Beyond the Clinic – Why We Walk for Fertility
Oluyemisi Famuyiwa, Medical Director at Montgomery Fertility Center, shared on LinkedIn:
“Some of the most meaningful conversations about fertility happen outside the walls of a medical office.
Fertile Walk 2026 reminded me why creating spaces for education, connection, and community matters so much.
In this edition of my newsletter, I reflect on why our mission extends beyond clinical care, and why we must keep walking together.
Together We Walk. Together We Hope.
Beyond the Clinic: Why We Walk for Fertility
Reflections on Fertile Walk 2026
On September 26, 2026, our community gathered in Rockville, Maryland, for Fertile Walk 2026.
- We walked together.
- We shared stories.
- We learned from one another.
- And perhaps most importantly, we created a space where conversations about fertility could take place beyond the walls of a medical office.
As a reproductive endocrinologist, much of my professional life is spent helping individuals and couples navigate the clinical complexities of infertility.
But fertility care is about more than laboratory results, procedures, and treatment protocols.
It is also about education, understanding, and connection.
That is part of what inspired Fertile Walk.
This year’s gathering brought together patients, families, friends, healthcare professionals, and community supporters, all united by a shared commitment to fertility awareness.
The morning included our community walk, opportunities for conversation, and a wonderful Tai Chi session led by Master Hero.
I am especially grateful to everyone who contributed to making the event possible, including EMD Serono, Ferring Pharmaceuticals, Progenesis, and Hilton Hotels and Resorts.
To our Montgomery Fertility Center team, thank you for your dedication and the work that happens behind the scenes to bring an event like this to life.
And to everyone who attended, walked alongside us, shared their experiences, or helped spread the word: thank you.
The walk may be over, but our mission continues.
My hope is that we continue building a community where fertility conversations are welcomed, accurate information is accessible, and individuals and families feel empowered to ask questions and explore their options.
Together We Walk. Together We Hope.”
