Ritu Anand: Make Conversations about Miscarriage Open, Compassionate, and Free from Stigma

Ritu Anand, Specialist in Reproductive Medicine and Infertility at Orchid IVF and Fertility Services, shared on LinkedIn։

” ‘Doctor, will I be able to have a healthy pregnancy after a miscarriage?’

This is a question that deserves more than a quick answer. It deserves compassion, understanding, and the right medical guidance.

Pregnancy loss can leave women with difficult questions, uncertainty, and fear about what comes next.

As a fertility specialist, I believe it is important to help women understand three things:

  • One miscarriage does not automatically mean you will have difficulty conceiving in the future.
  • Self-blame is not the answer. Many early miscarriages occur because of chromosomal abnormalities and are not caused by anything the woman did or didn’t do.
  • The right guidance matters. Understanding when to seek medical evaluation and what steps to take next can help women make informed decisions about their reproductive health.

Every woman’s journey is different. While many women go on to have healthy pregnancies after a miscarriage, individual circumstances and medical history matter.

My message to every woman who has experienced pregnancy loss is this: your concerns are valid, your questions matter, and you deserve care that addresses both your medical needs and your emotional well-being.

Let’s make conversations about miscarriage more open, compassionate, and free from stigma.

What do you think women need more of after pregnancy loss: better awareness, emotional support, or clearer medical guidance?”
