Ide Armelle Djuidje Chatue: Unveiling EBV’s Role in Malaria Susceptibility
Ide Armelle Djuidje Chatue, PHD Student in Medical Microbiology at University of Yaounde, shared a post on LinkedIn about a paper published in Scientific Reports:
“Proud to share my latest publication in Nature Scientific Reports titled ‘Impact of Epstein–Barr virus reactivation on cytokine levels in pregnant women with malaria in the West Region of Cameroon.’
This study offers important insight into the immunological mechanisms through which Epstein–Barr virus, one of the most common oncogenic viruses, may modulate antimalarial immune responses and increase susceptibility to severe malaria during pregnancy. The findings provide new perspectives for strengthening maternal health and malaria management in endemic regions, while underscoring the role of EBV as a potential cofactor in disease progression.
Grateful to my collaborators and all who contributed to this research.
