Resa Nabor: Could Your Symptoms Be Linked to PCOS?
Resa Nabor, Founder and Community Advocate of PCOS Millennials, shared on LinkedIn:
“Could your symptoms be linked to PCOS? Learn the 7 warning signs every woman should know. Early awareness can make a difference!
‘PCOS changes your face, but what drives these stubborn symptoms? It comes down to elevated androgens.
Surface-level skincare fails because the real trigger originates deep inside your endocrine system.
Take a single hair follicle and its attached oil gland on your jawline. When your hormone levels are perfectly balanced, this system runs like clockwork. The follicle grows a fine, nearly invisible hair…and the gland produces just enough oil to protect the skin.
But PCOS causes ovaries to produce an excess of male hormones like testosterone. These hormones travel through your bloodstream and flood directly into the skin tissue.
Your skin isn’t just a passive surface—it’s a highly sensitive hormone receptor. The excess androgens actively bind to receptors on the follicle and gland…completely overwhelming their normal regulatory systems.
First, this overstimulation forces the follicle to alter its growth phase. The fine vellus hair is forced to mutate into a thick, dark terminal hair.
Next, those same androgens trigger the attached sebaceous gland into overdrive. It pumps out massive amounts of oil, rapidly clogging the pore. This creates deep, chronic inflammation that simply cannot be washed away.
Because the cause is structural, cleansers will never reach it.
So when standard skincare fails, your stubborn jawline acne might actually signal PCOS.’
