PFAS Exposure Disrupts Placental Development In Pregnancy – Medical Xpress

Using advanced 3D placental models, findings indicate that PFAS impairs key placental functions, including hormone production and cellular invasiveness, both essential for healthy fetal growth. These disruptions may increase the risk of pregnancy complications. The study underscores the importance of precise PFAS exposure assessment early in pregnancy and demonstrates the value of 3D models for evaluating chemical risks to maternal and fetal health.”
