Ronya Rubinstein: When Period Pain Isn’t Normal: The Reality of Endometriosis in Young Women
Ronya (Ben Meir) Rubinstein, lecturer at University of Haifa, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Endometriosis in young girls is a real challenge. This study on laparoscopy confirmed endometriosis girls <22 they try everything – pain killers, contraceptives and some are even perscribed opiods (5.9%!). and still the pain is unbearable and they turn to different doctors hoping for relief and eventually undrgoing surgery at a very young age.
I see my daughters and their friends and my heart goes out to them.
Endometriosis is very prevalent. more than 10% of girls and women. Research is finally growing and hopefully more knowledge will drive better care.
