Marlene Zamora: Better Measurements Lead to Better Uterine Diagnosis

Marlene Zamora, Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive MD at Hospital Español, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Normal uterine morphology is not subjective: it is measurable.

This anatomical model was built from parameters obtained through segmentation and alignment, allowing standardizing angles and distances of the endometrial and myometrial contour.

Objective measurement of the fundus, interostial distance, and lateral angles is key to:

  • Differentiating anatomical variants of Müllerian malformations
  • Avoid overdiagnosis of septate uterus or arcuate
  • Plan hysteroscopic approaches with greater precision
  • Improve the correlation between imaging, surgical findings, and diagnosis of adenomyosis.

The geometric standardization of the uterus provides diagnostic reproducibility and reduces interobserver variability, especially in 3D studies.

Anatomy matters, measurement too.”
