A New Global Partnership for Maternal and Reproductive Health – FIGO
FIGO (International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics) shared a post on LinkedIn:
“A meaningful step forward for women’s health
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and FIGO have just signed a new partnership to accelerate innovation and investment in maternal and reproductive health.
Prof Dr Frank Louwen, President of FIGO, attended the UNFPA Headquarters to sign the Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of the federation, strengthening collaboration between UNFPA’s global reach and FIGO’s worldwide network of obstetricians and gynaecologists.
The partnership will help expand practical innovations – from digital tools for obstetric emergencies to improved cervical cancer screening – while strengthening health systems and access to quality care for women and girls, particularly in low- and middle-income countries.
As Prof Louwen noted: ‘This new partnership between UNFPA and FIGO marks a powerful commitment to advancing the health, rights and dignity of every woman and girl. It represents more than collaboration – it is a shared promise to improve access to quality reproductive health services, uphold human rights and leave no one behind’
